Child Custody
• Legal custody - If the parties are unable to reach an agreement, the court will decide who will make the major decisions regarding the child's health, education, religious training and general welfare. In that case, we will present your perspective to the court.
• Physical custody - absent an agreement between the parties, the court will create an access or visitation plan for the children.
Child Support
Both parents have a duty to provide financial support for the children. The amount of financial support a parent's financial duty to support financial obligation to support a child is generally based on the Maryland Child Support Guidelines, but other factors may affect the total amount owed for child support.
Alimony
Currently, there is no set formula for determining an alimony award. The amount of money to be paid and the length of time for the alimony obligation can be matters of delegate negotiation. Courts evaluate the parties income, expenses and other specific factors to determine an award of alimony.
